The Clinical Pharmacist Senior Specialist for the Emergency Room will be responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care to all patient age groups (including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal patients.) Our ER consists of 100 beds with approximately 78,000 patients annually. The Pharmacist will prepare, dispense, and monitor both the prescribing and effectiveness of all medications and IV admixtures while exercising considerable independent decision making ability. Specifically, the Pharmacist will be managing patients with disease states including, but not limited to, cardiac arrest, acute stroke, myocardial infarction, sepsis, and toxicologic emergencies.
Graduate of an ACPE accredited college of Pharmacy, or foreign equivalent educational degree. Bachelor's degree required.
PharmD with a successful completion of a Post Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1) required, PGY 2 preferred.
Current New Jersey State license as Registered Pharmacist.
BLS, ACLS, and PALS required, or eligible for completion within the introductory period.
Familiarity with all phases of Hospital Pharmacy and a working knowledge of public health matters, as well as, Federal and State laws regulating the professional and hospital practice of Pharmacy.
Understands the role of the Hospital Pharmacy Department within the hospital and its interrelationships with other departments and functions.
Competent in all areas of Emergency Medicine.
