The Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, is seeking outstanding applicants for an Associate Dean of Pharmacy Student Affairs. This position will be part of the UCI School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences that is under development. The new school will be part of the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, which is currently comprised of five units: the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Program in Public Health, the School of Medicine, the Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing, and the Susan Samueli Integrated Health Institute. The college is part of the integrated UC Irvine Health system that also encompasses UCI’s clinics and Orange County’s only academic medical center.
Candidates at the associate and full professor rank will be considered.
The successful candidate will develop, implement, and evaluate the PharmD student affairs, recruitment and admissions program in accordance with ACPE and relevant higher education standards, including development and enforcement of all policies & procedures related to student affairs and services. The candidate will work with the Admissions Committee to develop, implement, and evaluate recruitment and enrollment strategies. Development and maintenance of the student handbook, facilitating academic advising, tutoring, health and wellness support systems and providing mentorship and consultation to pharmacy and pre-pharmacy students are all important aspects of this position. The successful candidate will develop and implement systems to monitor and evaluate student academic performance and progress to ensure student success. This position will report to the Dean and the Chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice.
The successful candidate will be a PharmD from an accredited college/school of pharmacy and have completed at least a PGY1 pharmacy residency or have equivalent skills and experience. The candidate will either be licensed in California as a pharmacist, or be eligible for licensure within 6 months. High priority in selection will be given to candidates with: experience in student affairs at a pharmacy school, evidence of excellent communication, clinical, and teaching skills, outstanding organizational and administrative skills, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and strong potential for academic advancement demonstrated by a record of innovation and creativity documented through evidence of scholarly activity appropriate for relevant faculty series.
