The Director, Inpatient Pharmacy will be responsible for developing and recommending short and long-term goals for the health system's inpatient pharmacy services in alignment with Lifespan’s mission, values and key business objectives. This individual will provide leadership in identifying the resources required to achieve the operating results and advocate for them during resource allocation. This key leader will participate in the development, recommendation, implementation, and monitoring of the inpatient operating budget for each affiliate. He/she must be well connected across the country and involved at a national level, mentoring and encouraging the team in publishing and presenting nationally.
The Director, Pharmacy Business Operations will provide leadership and oversight of the pharmacy business operations for Lifespan affiliates, including but not limited to, Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, Newport Hospital, Bradley Hospital, Lifespan Pharmacy LLC, Gateway Healthcare, and Lifespan Physician Group. This key leader will be responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Lifespan Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct. The director will develop and recommend short and long-term goals for the pharmacy business operations in alignment with Lifespan’s mission, values and key business objectives. He/she must have knowledge and understanding of payor contracts, the business of pharmacy and identifying new business centers as well as RFP development and business ops.
Both roles require a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy. The Director, Pharmacy Business Operations role also requires advanced study in pharmacy or a health care related field, preferably a Masters or Doctor of Pharmacy degree and pharmacy residency, or comparable work experience for inpatient and a Master of Business Administration or advanced degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, or Finance.
Maintains current licensure as a licensed pharmacist and is eligible for licensure in Rhode Island.
Minimum of ten years of experience obtained within an academic healthcare system or other large complex health system.
Minimum of ten years progressively more responsible business operations and financial management experience in a hospital or health care setting.
Must have experience in a large complex pharmacy environment, preferably an academic medical center/health system; knows the workings of a hospital pharmacy operation inside and out. Possesses an exceptional understanding of pharmacy department processes.
