The Director of Pharmacy Services is a member of the Pharmacy Department's leadership team at Mercy Medical Center. The purpose of this position is to organize, implement, and manage the overall day to day services of the Pharmacy Department. Independent judgment, through analysis of relevant information and sound analytical thinking, is required to implement, manage, and monitor the department's functions to deliver accredited, effective, and cost efficient patient focused pharmaceutical services.
In addition to managing the day to day functions, the Director, in collaboration with the VP/Chief Pharmacy Officer, is responsible for assuring quality services and the management of human and fiscal resources. The Director assures that current National and State standards of pharmaceutical care are implemented and that the Department operates within Mercy's policies and objectives and in accordance with Mercy Core Values. This position requires a person with decisive leadership ability, who inspires others to do their best, while promoting teamwork and harmony.
Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
Must possess a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy.
Advanced Pharmacy degrees and residency training are preferred.
Must have a minimum of five years of progressive hospital pharmacy experience, or an advanced Pharmacy or Business degree and two years of hospital pharmacy experience.
License Requirements: Must be licensed as a Pharmacist in Maryland.
Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following: Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Meditech (if applicable to position), Epic (if applicable to position), NetLearning and Electronic Performance Appraisal System.
Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must be able to accurately type 30 WPM.
Must be knowledgeable in the use of computers and of regulatory agency requirements and professional standards of practice.
