ChristianaCare is recruiting for a Clinical Pharmacy Services Director to plan, implement, and manage clinical pharmacy services, research projects and the post-graduate residency programs (PGY-1 and PGY-2) of Pharmacy Services.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, organizes, and manages assigned departmental activities with a focus on value. Develops goals and objectives, establishes and implements policies and procedures for assigned departmental operation.
Designs workflows and processes reflective of current best practices.
Leverages resources and personnel to generate value-added outcomes.
Oversees the organizational process for assessing the value of an individual medication.
Coordinates and manages the medication use evaluation program.
Reviews department performance, effects change as needed to deliver value to our patients and customers while assuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Demonstrates a Culture of Responsibility (CoR) during event investigation, conversations with personnel and proactive identification/resolution of risky behaviors.
Coordinates and manages the activities of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) and personnel assuring adequate provision of service and measurement/reporting of key metrics.
Assures/coordinates clinical support for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and its associated subcommittees, including oversight of the pre-printed order set review / approval process, and pharmacy participation in development of care management guidelines.
Recommends and initiates short- and long-term programs. Develops plans and determines operations and services to obtain objectives within budget in accordance with overall system policies.
Assures appropriate management of Pharmacy Practice Residency Programs via the residency program directors
Coordinates and manages pharmacy student training with affiliated schools of pharmacy.
Collaborates with medical group leadership area, essential services to support care standardization initiatives.
Recommends orders for materiel, equipment, and services necessary to carry out departmental functions.
Responsible for compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards as they apply to assigned duties and responsibilities. Maintains department reports and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Selects, trains/orientates, assigns and develops departmental staff. Develops standards of performance and monitors and supervises staff; evaluates performance and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions such as merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary action. Encourages professional development of departmental personnel through in-service education and outside conferences.
Maintains department facilities and equipment in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of staff and patients. Evaluates and justifies equipment and supply needs and purchases;
Coordinates and assists with the maintenance and /or publication of the hospital formulary and other departmental educational tools.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required
Post graduate clinical residency (PGY-1) required
Advanced degree (MS, MBA, MHCDS or MHA) preferred
Specialized residency (clinical, administrative, medication safety or informatics) preferred
Minimum of five years hospital experience, three years of which are in a clinical or administrative role
Board certification in Pharmacotherapy or a specialty is preferred
Licensed as a pharmacist in the State of Delaware or eligible for reciprocity
