The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy invites applications for the Assistant Dean for Experiential Education. The successful applicant will be appointed as a non-tenure track clinical faculty member in the Pharmacy Practice Division at a rank consistent with qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will provide leadership, coordination, and oversight of all Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) in the College of Pharmacy. In this role, the individual will work with regional internship personnel in the College’s five Texas internship regions and supervise staff team members in the Office of Experiential Education. The individual provides leadership and oversight for all APPE rotation assignments, the recruitment, training, and development of preceptors, the maintenance of preceptor records, communication with preceptors regarding student performance on rotation experiences, promoting diversity in experiential education, conducts regional site visits, and maintains active affiliation agreements with all healthcare organizations where experiential education occurs. The Assistant Dean provides assurance that IPPE course coordinators are conducting IPPE courses in a manner that optimizes student experiential learning. Teaching and service that supports the mission of The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy is expected. The successful individual will have the opportunity to collaborate with tenure track and non-tenure-track faculty on research and scholarship. Minimum qualifications include an earned Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy, two years of post-graduate residency training, and a minimum of five years of academic pharmacy experience, including supervision of student practice experiences. Previous administrative experience with experiential education is highly preferred. The successful candidate must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas and be able to demonstrate effective teaching.
