We are seeking a prospective resident that is passionate about geriatric patient care, eager to take initiative, and interested in teaching.
Midwestern University College of Pharmacy, Glendale Campus is inviting applications for a PGY-2 Geriatric Pharmacy Residency. The resident will engage in collaborative patient care and provider education in the area of geriatric pharmacy practice, with a focus on ambulatory care and academic pharmacy practice and teaching.
The resident will teach didactic courses offered by the Department of Pharmacy Practice and serve as a practitioner role model in the provision of advanced pharmacy practice experiences for students enrolled in our innovative three calendar year Doctor of Pharmacy program. The resident is expected to complete one major project suitable for publication and present at the ASCP Conference and/or the Southwestern Residency Conference. Additional travel and presentations may be required.
Midwestern University, originally opened in 1900 as the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, provides undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate education in health sciences on two campuses. The Glendale, Arizona campus was founded in 1995 and currently consists of over 29 buildings on 144 acres in a suburban setting with ready access to both active and cultural activities. It is located in one of the most rapidly growing areas in the nation, with 330 days of sunshine per year. Established in 1998, the College of Pharmacy – Glendale attracts a mature, diverse student body to its three-year year-round program.
We are located in the Phoenix valley metropolitan area where entire cities (Sun City, Sun City West, etc) require inhabitants to be minimum 65 years of age which allows our program to have geriatric patient care learning experiences available. The program has a focus on ambulatory care; however, all residents spend 6-weeks in the acute care setting and may complete electives in this setting. The program is partnered with the Banner Geriatric Medical Fellowship program, where PGY2 geriatric pharmacy residents’ participation is a valued part of the medical fellowship.

Pharm.D. plus completion of a PGY-1 ASHP accredited (or pending) program, commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care, and eligibility for pharmacy licensure in Arizona. The qualified candidate must be strongly committed to interdisciplinary education and teamwork.
