This fellowship program is designed to provide comprehensive training and experience in a broad range of Medical Affairs activities, with a focus on hematology-oncology disease areas.
The Outcome Goals of this 2-year fellowship will prepare the fellow to:
Actively participate in specific areas of medical affairs, clinical practice, and academia through intensive, hands-on training and mentorship at these settings
Gain experience in various areas of Medical Affairs, including Medical Communications, Medical Information, Medical Strategy, and other areas of industry
Promote the role and value of a clinically-trained pharmacist in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry
Become a highly competent candidate to be recruited by the pharmaceutical industry with expertise in hematology-oncology disease areas and medical affairs
The first 6 months will be comprised of clinical training and inter-professional experiences, which will be delivered through clinical rotations in oncology practice sites to understand real-time cancer patient care and prepare the fellow for medical affairs rotations/activities. The fellow will also participate in the Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP) Teaching Certificate Program.Additionally, training of this nature will help develop the fellow in areas such as leadership, presentation organization/delivery, communication, biostatistics, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacogenomics, and more. The fellow will spend the remaining year and a half at Amgen in Thousand Oaks, California, actively participating in the aforementioned areas within the Outcome Goals.

Academic: The applicant must have a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited school or college of pharmacy and obtain a California Pharmacist license by October 1st after the beginning of the fellowship.
Professional Experience: Industry/FDA internships or rotations, PGY1, or equivalent are preferred, but not required.

Additional Salary Information: Two weeks per fiscal year within the term of an appointment in addition to university holidays.
We will evaluate the re-location reimbursement request on a case-by-case basis.
