Located in the beautiful city of San Francisco, the critical care pharmacy residency is a one-year specialty residency that allows the resident to practice in a university-affiliated tertiary care, academic teaching hospital with 690 beds and six adult intensive care units on the main Parnassus campus. Graduating the first pharmacy resident in 1963, UCSF has a proud history of developing excellent clinicians and offers unique and rewarding experiences.

UCSF is ranked #8 of all medical centers nationally according to 2020 US News and World Report. The focus of the critical care pharmacy residency is to develop specialty expertise in a variety of intensive care settings including medical, surgical, trauma, neuroscience and cardiac intensive care. UCSF is affiliated with the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, a Level 1 trauma center, where the resident will have the opportunity for rotation experiences. Offsite rotation experiences at other Bay Area institutions are available based on resident interest. Program graduates will possess necessary skills to function as an advanced practitioner in clinical and academic settings.
