University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy offer six acute care-based PGY2 specialty residency programs. Through each of these programs, the resident will develop skills to design and deliver direct patient care and specialized pharmacy services as part of a collaborative practice environment; develop teaching and assessment skills; and develop research skills through the design, implementation, assessment, and publication of a practice-based research project. Each respective program prepares residents to become fully integrated members of the interdisciplinary team, to make complex pharmacotherapy decisions, and to serve as a clinical content expert, educator, and researcher. The PGY2 Residency programs in these areas provide a wide variety of opportunities to practice within acute care, ambulatory care, and sub-specialty practices, including cardiovascular and critical care, infectious diseases, hematology and oncology, solid organ transplant and psychiatry*. Additional details about each program can be found at: http://www.pharmacy.pitt.edu/programs/residency/residency_index.php.
* In addition to the PGY2 programs, we are offering a PGY1/2 position for candidates interested in a PGY1 and early commitment to our psychiatric PGY2 program following the 2020-2021 residency year; however, we will not be interviewing for these positions through PPS. Please contact UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency Director, Tanya Fabian, PharmD, PhD, BCPP (firstname.lastname@example.org) and PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Director, Matthew Joseph, PharmD, BCPS (email@example.com) for further information.
