Providence Medical Group (PMG) is part of Providence Health & Services, a large integrated health care system and a leading provider of quality medical care in Oregon. PMG operates more than 40 primary care clinics in the Portland area and 7 primary care clinics in the southern Oregon region dedicated to meeting the health care needs of the community. PMG’s Clinical Pharmacy Department is among the most progressive in the country, allowing residents to learn team-based, evidence-based care.
A Progressive PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency
The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency offers patient care experiences in a team-based primary care setting with the core in direct patient care. Working under clinical pharmacy agreements, residents are responsible for initiating and adjusting medication therapy for a variety of chronic disease states. As a member of the medical home team, residents work closely with providers, support staff, medical residents, and community partners. Residents are involved in research, education, committee work and stewardship activities, and develop practice leadership skills.

The residents rotate through family and internal medicine clinics on a quarterly basis while also participating in longitudinal experiences.
Core Learning Experiences
Direct patient care: 4 Primary Care Blocks (~12 weeks each)
Health education: 32 weeks. Residents will learn to understand, evaluate, and teach primary literature.
Evidence-based medicine:46-48 weeks. Residents provide certified continuing education for pharmacists and providers.
Leadership/administration:46-48 weeks. Residents will work with pharmacy leaders to improve pharmacy services across the health system.
Other Experiences: geriatrics, medication safety, practice management, presentation/teaching/precepting, professional leadership

Requirements: Doctorate of Pharmacy from an accredited college or school of pharmacy, Current valid Oregon pharmacy license, or license eligible prior to employment, Completion of a postgraduate year one (PGY1) residency or equivalent experience (as defined by ASHP)
