The PGY2 Specialty Pharmacy Administration and Leadership at UR Medicine Strong Memorial Hospital is a 12-month, full-time curriculum that provides the essential elements needed to develop a successful leader in a health system specialty pharmacy.
The integrated health-system specialty pharmacy at UR Medicine started in 2011 and currently there are over 50 full time pharmacists and technicians who provide services to patients across multiple specialties including cardiology, dermatology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, neuroimmunology, oncology, pulmonology, rheumatology, and hepatology. Our goal is to offer providers and patients a more personalized comprehensive pharmacy services to optimize the utilization of specialty medications. We strategically work to overcome challenges with limited distribution medications, restrictions to payers, and overall growth. This intensive training involves activities across the many facets of health system specialty pharmacy.

Admission to the residency program is available to PharmD graduates who have completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency. Residents must be eligible for New York State licensure. Our residency program utilizes PhORCAS for the application process.

About University of Rochester Medical Center
The University of Rochester Medical Center – Strong Memorial Hospital is located in Rochester, NY on the shores of Lake Ontario. Strong Memorial Hospital is an 886 bed quaternary referral center which includes the region’s Level 1 trauma center, transplant center, comprehensive stroke center, Wilmot Cancer Institute, Golisano Children’s Hospital, and many other specialty and subspecialty services. It is the main teaching site for the University of Rochester medical and nursing students and is an important training site for pharmacy students from several schools of pharmacy including St. John Fisher College Wegmans School of Pharmacy, the University at Buffalo, and D’Youville College.
