The PGY2 residency program at Qualitas Pharmacy Services is focused on specialty pharmacy and home infusion pharmacy along with the management and administrative responsibilities of maintaining these facilities. Core rotations include patient care in our specialty, home infusion, and mail order pharmacies. Longitudinal rotations include department management of our home infusion and specialty pharmacies, accreditation and compliance, operations, leadership, and administration, including finance and budgeting.
Qualitas® Pharmacy Services provides home infusion, specialty pharmacy, mail order pharmacy and central filling services for RWJBarnabas Health’s employees, hospitals and other providers.
The Home Infusion division is accredited by ACHC and the Joint Commission. Our team delivers medications, nutritional support, infusion pumps and supplies along with comprehensive education and infusion therapy management to patients in the comfort of their own homes. Our services provide a convenient alternative to lengthy hospital stays and frequent outpatient infusion visits, allowing patients to remain active and independent.
The Specialty Pharmacy division is accredited by URAC, ACHC and the Joint Commission. This department focuses on high cost medications or therapies for complex disease states. Medications in the specialty pharmacy range from oral to injectable and biologic products. Disease states treated include oncology, hepatitis, HIV, multiple sclerosis, transplant and inflammatory diseases.
The Mail Order Pharmacy division provides services to RWJBarnabas Health employees and their dependents. The pharmacy provides a variety of maintenance medications as well as specialty medications including, but not limited to, drugs used for fertility, gastroenterology, hepatitis, multiple sclerosis, oncology, rheumatology, diabetes and more. Established as a closed door pharmacy, this department provides up to a 90 day supply of prescriptions for chronic conditions and passes generated cost-savings on to patients.
The hospital services and central filling department provides various pharmacy services for the system hospital pharmacies. As an integral part of the RWJBarnabas Health system, provisions may include but are not limited to, patient specific TPN compounding, barcode repackaging for oral solid and liquid medications, centralized code cart drawer refills, and centralized warehousing for items that lend to cost savings or shortage remediations.

Elective Learning Experiences:
Experiences will vary based on preceptor availability at other sites within the RWJBH system. Options may include ambulatory care, corporate, systems integration and optimization, transplant, and others.
With sessions scheduled throughout the year, PGY1 and PGY2 residents in the RWJBH system gain experience and expertise in leadership and management to complement their learnings during their established learning experiences.
Teaching and Learning Certificate Program:
This is offered by the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University. This program is designed to strengthen the resident's knowledge and skills in presenting lectures and precepting students.
