Job Summary: The Informatics Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will work in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Pharmacy Services, institution’s Epic Team, and Information Services (IS) to analyze, design, implement, educate, and support clinical application systems (e.g. infusion pump library management, automatic dispensing systems, inventory management systems, electronic health record, robots, and other pharmacy technology.) This is a salaried position where responsibilities are performed Monday – Friday during regular business hours with occasional evenings, nights, and weekends at the discretion of management, based on operational needs of the department.
Facilitate the planning, development, implementation, upgrading, maintenance, and evaluation of clinical information systems
Perform bar code maintenance of medications and fluids provided by pharmacy within applicable clinical information systems
Analyze existing technology and potential changes, and its impact on pharmacy operations
Troubleshoot pharmacy hardware and software
Manage infusion pump libraries
Support Codonics and Kit Check systems
Conduct periodic reports and analysis of clinical information systems in the department
Communicate issues and topics with team members, pharmacy leadership, and IS teams
Participate in pharmacy meetings as relevant
Work with interdisciplinary teams across the facility to identify potential improvements in the current use of clinical information systems
Assist and help train co-workers with hardware and software problems or issues
Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy practices, regulations, policies, and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy or Chief Pharmacy Officer
Doctorate of Pharmacy or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
Current license to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas
Strong analytical, technical, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills
Pharmacy Informatics related post-graduate training (residency, fellowship, certifications)
Experience working with electronic health records (i.e. Epic) and/or providing support of medication software systems (e.g. ADS software, inventory management software, infusion pump library management software)
