The PGY2 Psychiatry Pharmacy Residency Program at RWJBarnabas Behavioral Health Center is designed to provide the resident with an experience that aligns with the mission and vision of the RWJBarnabas Behavioral Health Network. Whether through quality inpatient programs or structured outpatient services, the client's needs, both emotional and physiological, must be fully met for progress to be realized. Practice Setting: Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center (BHBHC) is a freestanding, 100-bed, acute psychiatric hospital located in Toms River, NJ. It is in a suburban environment within an hour drive from major cities (New York, Atlantic City, Philadelphia). BHBHC is the flagship facility of the RWJBarnabas Health Behavioral Health Network, which offers services as the other network hospitals. - At the discretion of the director and availability of preceptors, other experiences may be available across the enterprise depending on the resident’s goals
Teaching: Residents will have the opportunity to co-precept pharmacy students and residents who come to the facility throughout the year. There is also an opportunity to participate in a teaching certificate program offered by Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy that will strengthen skills in preceptorship and academia. Leadership Forum: Designed for residents to gain experience and expertise in Leadership & Management. Interactive sessions will allow formation of deeper connection and relationship with resident colleagues throughout the RWJBH enterprise. Program Outcomes: - The PGY2 Psychiatry Pharmacy Residency Program at RWJBarnabas Behavioral Health Center has an accreditation status of candidate with ASHP
- Graduates of the program will develop the following skills:
- Leadership and pharmacy practice management
- Time management and project coordination
- Evidence-based, patient-centered medication management with interdisciplinary teams
- Provide education to healthcare professionals and the public
- Practical application of pharmacotherapy principles
- Perform pharmacy practice research and present at ASHP Midyear meeting as well as CPNP annual meeting.
