Virginia Commonwealth University Health System (VCUHS) is the largest acute care facility in Virginia, and among the largest hospital complexes in the United States. It is the region's major referral center for trauma, transplantation, and oncology. The Department of Pharmacy Services provides comprehensive care to ambulatory and acute care patients. VCUHS is the major teaching site for the VCU Schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry and Allied Health.
For this PGY2 Critical Care residency, required rotations include Medical Respiratory ICU, Surgery/Trauma/Burn ICU, Neuroscience ICU, Cardiac Surgery ICU or Coronary ICU, Emergency Medicine, and ICU satellite operations (longitudinal). Elective rotations are available in Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, Solid Organ Transplant, and Clinical Toxicology,as well as from among the required rotations. Teaching opportunities are provided in experiential courses (APPEs) and didactic lectures.
Applicants must be Doctor of Pharmacy graduates from an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy; have completed an accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency; be licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in Virginia; and possess requisite patient care training or experience. The successful applicant must possess exceptional knowledge, clinical problem solving, communication skills, and leadership qualities
