Specific Position Summary Provides direction and leadership for Pharmacy operations, EMMC Pharmacy Outreach Service and Remote Order Verification Service. Provides operational oversight for the 340B effectiveness. Effectively recommends to the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Clinical Manager practices to develop, implement and maintain progressive and best practice health system pharmacy services. Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other health-care professionals. Participates in Northern Light Health System pharmacy related committees, task forces and system meetings. Directs and manages Pharmacy business and financial operations, HR functions, personnel, quality, distribution systems, technology systems and all related professional and operational aspects of current hospital pharmacy best practices and systems.

Technical Requirements Must know: Pharmacy rules and regulations; state and federal laws, rules, and regulations; accreditation standards; hospital/health-system pharmacy best practices, policies and procedures. Must maintain expert pharmacist skills. Advanced computer/technology skills preferred.

SPECIFIC MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential functions are identified by an asterisk. Provides direction and management for the business, financial and operational activities of all Pharmacy cost centers. Recommends for approval departmental goals, strategic plans and initiatives to the Director of Pharmacy. Develops, maintains and communicates departmental policies and procedures consistent with EMMC Mission and Vision statements. Develops with the Director of Pharmacy the departmental operational and capital budget and operates the department within the authorized budget as measured by the actual monthly budget performance reports. Assists Director of Pharmacy and Clinical Manager with staff and program development with a focus on improving services provided to patients, families, physicians, pharmacy staff, nursing and other customers. Continuously looks for operational and clinical opportunities that improve quality, patient safety and financial performance. Continuously looks for cost-savings and revenue enhancement opportunities that contribute to effective financial performance of the Pharmacy and Hospital. Assists with the development, implementation and on-going assessment of relevant performance improvement initiatives consistent with EMMC, regulatory and governmental requirements. Responsible for managing distribution systems/technology and information systems technology. Responsible for hiring, personnel evaluations and other personnel functions consistent with EMMC personnel policies. Responsible for assuring that all staff meet competency and licensure requirements. Directs and leads effective purchasing and inventory control practices including procurement and contracting processes (Pharmacy Supply Chain Management) and data analytics that support these processes. Leads and directs Pharmacy projects. Monitors and manages the EMMC 340B program operational execution. Responsible for increasing staff engagement.
Experience/Education B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. AND one of the following: M.S. in Pharmacy Administration, M.B.A., M.H.A., M.P.H., or PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency. At least four year's experience in hospital pharmacy and five years leadership experience.
State of Maine Pharmacist License or eligible to obtain, Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification are preferred
