As CHSU prepares to relaunch the College of Pharmacy program, the Department of Clinical Sciences has a need for qualified candidates for Clinical Sciences (CS) faculty positions. We are seeking energetic, team oriented, highly collaborative individuals to join a faculty committed to student success.
Candidates with backgrounds in inpatient and acute care environments are ideal. Preference will be given to those with experience in General Medicine, Critical Care, Cardiology, Infectious Diseases or Oncology; candidates with backgrounds in other practice areas also are encouraged to apply. We are considering applicants at the assistant, associate, or full professor level.
The Clinical Sciences faculty member is responsible for taking College of Pharmacy students on rotation at clinical sites affiliated with the University, including in hospitals, community pharmacies and healthcare provider offices. The Clinical Sciences faculty member is also responsible for providing academic instruction that is appropriate to one’s field of expertise as assigned by the Department Chair. Additional responsibilities include participation as an active member of assigned college or university committees, scholarship and research, and service as a faculty advisor to students.
The essential functions (i.e., the fundamental job duties of the position) are as follows:
Clinical Teaching: Under the direction of the Department Chair, develop a clinical practice site at an affiliated institution or community pharmacy for the experiential education of COP students.
Didactic Teaching:Contribute to the didactic teaching load of the Department, including development or maintenance of course materials. The amount of teaching will be assigned annually by the Department Chair with consideration given to the faculty member’s clinical duties.
Service: Active service on committees of the College or University, and service as faculty student advisor, as assigned.
Scholarship: Scholarly contributions to the discipline and profession. Scholarship goals determined in consultation with Department Chair considering clinical and didactic teaching load. Actively participate in events and activities of the College and University.
Education: PharmD and postdoctoral residency and/or fellowship required.
Licensure & Certification: Valid California pharmacist license in good standing or eligible for California license.
Skills & Experience:
Clinical practice experience in working with complex patients in various settings.
Ability to work with stakeholders at affiliated sites to develop experiential education rotations for COP faculty.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders.
Teaching experience at the professional level and experience in an academic setting preferred.
A track record of, and desire to further develop in, leadership skills and collegiality.
Computer skills such as use of desktop or laptop, Microsoft Office, and online education platforms and resources.
Professional demeanor, collaborative work style, and enthusiasm and commitment to contribute to the CHSU and College’s missions.
