2:30pm- 11:00pm, with some variation

You Will Be Responsible For:

Pharmacy Operations

Actively performs all pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in:

·         Standard work parameters

·         Operational programs

·         Delivery and compounding systems

·         Hospital computer systems

·         Medication ordering systems

Maintains operational expertise in and actively provides coverage of the technician services provided by

·         Central Pharmacy

·         IV Room

·         Delivery

·         Controlled Substances

Oversees appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems

·         Accurately interprets electronic records

·         Maintains expertise in Cerner processes

Accurately oversees the management of medication inventories and the preparation and delivery of patientâspecific medication doses

·         Manages medication delivery activities

·         Prepares accurate medication products for delivery

·         Prevents improper drug, dose, dosage form selection, expiration dating, and barcode scanning issues when checking products

·         Performs oral and injectable product compounding

Pharmacy Practice

Facilitates medication safety practices

·         Identifies, mitigates, and reports potential medication errors such as lookâalike sound-alike medications

Maintains continuous learning and pharmacy practice development

·         Maintains personal continuing education plan including documentation of an annual selfâevaluation and plan for self-development

·         Completes CE modules as part of Pharmacy Technician licensure renewal

Provides patientâcentered care services

·         Provides accurate, safe and timely medication therapy

Clinical Pharmacy Services

Supports practice in decentralized areas

·         Collaborates with other pharmacy staff

·         Collaborates with care providers and Pharmacists to optimize care and improve services

Teamwork and Inter-Professional Collaboration

Presents to assigned areas on time, ready to work and does not exhibit unscheduled absenteeism

·         Adheres to lunch and break schedule

Assures continuity of care between shifts, among pharmacy staff assignments, and across pharmacy practice areas

What You Will Need:

·         High school degree REQUIRED

·         Registered Pharmacy Technician in Texas REQUIRED

·         Sterile Compounding Certification REQUIRED

·         Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in a physical science, business or healthcare preferred

·         One year of Contemporary hospital pharmacy experience preferred

·         Current certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or from the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT) preferred

Job Summary:

Prepares and organizes pharmacy medications by name and dosage, as listed on patient orders. To provide safe and accurate medication services and to support all those involved in direct patient care.
