This position will be hired into the newly formed Pharmacy Shared Services. This position will support Banner Family Pharmacy - Home Delivery and Banner Pharmacy Services - Specialty-Care. This Department is responsible to provide direct patient care to patients and their caregivers by assisting with financial assistance and prior authorizations. The Pharmacy Tech hired to this position will be in a role that is primarily telephonic. However, there will be cross-training to the fulfilment center to help with business needs and volumes. The individual will be responsible to provide direct customer service to patients and their caregivers, processing prescriptions, managing the prescription filling workflow (prior to the script being sent to the fulfillment center), trouble-shooting insurance issues, and supporting the processing and clinical pharmacists within the support center. The Pharmacy Technicians are required to answer all inbound calls and process prescriptions for specialty or home delivery, and are essential to the implementation of both the specialty and home delivery business line. This position is in a call center setting. In addition you will be able to work within the hours of 8am-5:30pm or later shifts may be needing depending upon the needs of the business. Clinical Pharmacy Services provides collaborative drug therapy management and educational interventions in patient care to optimize medication therapy, improve outcomes, promote wellness, and disease prevention. POSITION SUMMARY This position will prepare, dispense, and compound medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Provide prescription support services for patients to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient delivery of medication therapy. Provide excellent customer service skills, high attention to detail, strong problem solving, documentation and computer skills. Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support pharmaceutical care activities, complete pharmacy billing activities, record keeping, reporting, inventory management, and arrange appropriate medication delivery. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, review and interpret prescriptions and input into the computer for verification by the pharmacist. Communicate with patients and initiate problem resolution on payer issues. 2. Prepare, dispense, and compound appropriate amount of medication under supervision of a pharmacist. Deliver medications accurately to the patient. 3. Answer phones, accept prescriptions, and communicate with patients in waiting area. 4. Assist with inventory, maintain a clean work environment, and assist with any other administrative duties as assigned by supervising pharmacists or senior technicians. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and/or may be in training for a technical/trades career Licensed and registered pharmacy technician in the state of practice, where applicable. Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant work experience. Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on the job training required. Strong customer service focus, superior problem-solving abilities. Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associates or bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation preferred. Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile and hazardous drug compounding preferred. Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred. Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable program. Additional related education and/or experience preferred |
