Under the direction of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Student is responsible for day-to-day comprehensive pharmacy technician services in a complex medical environment. This may include unit dose dispensing technology,and advanced medication compounding.
The Pharmacy Student will also skillfully use interpersonal, customer service, problem solving and collaboration skills to provide appropriate clinical care including patient counseling and prospective drug use evaluation as appropriate.
Location:University of Minnesota Medical Center (West Bank Hospital)
Partner with care providers and pharmacists to ensure that patient receives the needed medication accurately, safely, in accordance with all legal requirements and policies and in a professional and timely manner.
Under the direction of the pharmacist, receive prescription/orders from electronic medical record, process manually or using the appropriate computer system and protocols, prepare drug therapy and/or dispense medication in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with all legal, regulatory agency and Fairview requirements.
Maintain the IV hoods or isolators, clean room, ante room according to manufacturers specifications and regulatory requirements as applicable.
Coordinate ordering, delivery of medications, supplies and equipment to patients and clinical areas as requested.
Participate in regulatory, quality assurance and process improvement activities and other projects as assigned.
As part of ongoing clinical and professional development, participate in team meetings and other learning opportunities with clinical pharmacy staff, residents and other members of the care team.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Enrollment in the first year of an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program at the University of Minnesota and satisfactorily progressing toward completion of the academic requirement for the Pharm D degree.
