The Area Operations Pharmacy Manager oversees and directs the pharmacy processes and daily operational activities of personnel to ensure the efficient and timely dispensing of medications throughout the Medical Center. Accountable for supervision and management of personnel, standards development, staff development, and continuous improvement of activities within the Pharmacy.
Through collaboration with the Area Clinical Manager of Pharmacy and interdisciplinary team of physicians, pharmacists, nurses and others, reviews, analyzes and recommends changes in practice that optimize the provision of pharmaceutical care and patient outcomes. Pharmacy practice is in accordance with Joint Commission standards, State and Federal regulatory criteria, and professional best practice standards. Proficiency is demonstrated in the required competencies. Performs all duties under minimal supervision. Serve as a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for an SJH Humboldt Pharmacy license if warranted, and participate in all Regulatory compliance surveys and activities required. The Area Operations Pharmacy Manager collaborates with the Area Pharmacy Director to effectively manage multiple Pharmacy sites within Humboldt county.
Development of Pharmacy Staff.
Facilitates a Culture of Patient Safety.
Education: Works collaboratively with educators to develop and maintain individualized orientation and informs new staff of Department specific expectations for their performance; annually evaluates department orientation program.
Leadership: Demonstrates and models leadership, professionalism, critical thinking/judgment and partnership in all interactions.
Collaboration: Collaborates with the Area Pharmacy Clinical Manager and Area Pharmacy Director and interdisciplinary staff to develop programs, policies, procedures, and standards of care that promote safe, cost-effective and appropriate medication administration throughout the Medical Center.
Quality Assurance: Participates in the quality improvement activities of the department and the Medical Center. Collects and analyzes data of performance improvement and quality assurance data related to medication management.
Problem Solving: Uses advanced problem-solving skills to synthesize data and demonstrates to others, clear judgments in dynamic clinical situations revolving around safe medication practices.

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy in the United States.
License/Certification: Licensed as a California Pharmacist, eligible to serve as a PIC with California Board of Pharmacy.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
Education: Coursework/Training - Completion of a 1 or 2 year Accredited ASHP residency program. or Board certification.
Experience: Leadership/supervisory experience in an acute care pharmacy setting.
