The Department of Pharmaceutical Care at University of Iowa Healthcare (UIHC) is seeking aPharmacy Manager to oversee pharmaceutical care operations involving sterile and non-sterile product preparation for the adult acute care areas. The majority of the bulk compounding for all of UIHC sterile product falls under this manager’s supervision as well. Responsibilities include evaluating and optimizing the medication delivery system, inventory control (including controlled substances) and compliance with USP 797/800. This position will serve as a member of the Pharmacy management team and will be responsible for management of multiple services areas and staff. This position is responsible for development of new programs, performance improvement and other management activities in collaboration with other departments.

Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
Current license or eligibility to be licensed as Pharmacist by Iowa Board of Pharmacy required upon hire.
Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Administration Residency or Specialty Pharmacy Residency or minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a complex clinical pharmacy environment. Alternative residency training with or without related experience will be evaluated as acceptable alternatives based upon experiences.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Strong interest in acute care pharmacy operations.
Ability and willingness to act as preceptor for students and residents.
Job-related experience with and/or commitment to service excellence is required.
Job-related experience with and/ or commitment to diversity in the work environment is required.
Job-related experience in the inpatient care setting is desirable.
A Master of Science in Pharmacy or healthcare/management related advanced degree such as an MHA, MPH or MBA is desirable.
Experience with automation/technology, human resources management, project management and Epic electronic health record is highly desirable.
Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification is highly desirable.
