The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, an integral component of VCU Health, is seeking a highly motivated individual for a clinical pharmacy specialist position in acute care oncology. This challenging position provides opportunities to deliver high quality pharmacy care to inpatient oncology patients and collaborate with providers, nurses, and other healthcare providers on the provision of drug therapy.
Participate in Acute Care Oncology multi-disciplinary patient care rounds
Ensure the optimal use of chemotherapy and related medications including effectiveness, safety, and cost
Precept and educate pharmacy residents (PGY1 and PGY2) and students (APPEs)
Provide medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff education
Educate patients on chemotherapy and other medications
Develop, update, and manage oncology protocols and guidelines
Conduct quality improvement projects and participate in clinical research
Review chemotherapy orders for completeness and accuracy
Assist physicians and other providers with the optimal use of the EMR regarding drug therapy
