Your Role: Primary responsibilities include supervision and verification of inpatient and outpatient infusion, adult and pediatric oncology medication orders. Additional responsibilities include clinical medication order and chart review, drug information provision, supervision of pharmacy technicians, and collaboration with a large team to provide excellent patient care.
Reviews medication orders and medical records to ensure the safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medications.
Provides outstanding patient care by optimizing medication preparation and resolving medication-related issues.
Prepares and dispenses medications, provides drug information and manages medication therapy in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and hospital policy.
Supervises the activities of assigned support personnel and verifies the accuracy and appropriateness of all medications prepared by support personnel prior to dispensing to healthcare providers for administration to patients.
Provides drug information and education to medical professionals, students and patients.
Consistently evaluates, intervenes and documents clinical interventions according to institutional protocols and guidelines.
Follows, maintains and reinforces system policies and processes for proper dosing, storage, handling, dispensing and administration of medications and compounded sterile products, including hazardous, antineoplastic medications.
Manages problem solving and conflict resolution constructively and appropriately.
Participates with educating pharmacy students and residents.
Recognizes process failures and actively engages in analysis and improvement efforts.
Consistently demonstrates critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Maintains knowledge of oncology issues through appropriate educational endeavors and personal learning.
