The Director of Clinical Pharmacy proactively and collaboratively promotes cost-effective, high-quality care through the development and implementation of clinical initiatives focused on appropriate medication use, evidence based medication selection and demonstrated clinical outcomes. This person will be responsible for the management of all aspects of pharmacy related to the appropriate selection of medications including therapeutic evaluation, utilization review, assessment of data related to outcomes, and management of alternatives to medications unavailable in the supply chain.
The Director of Clinical Pharmacy will work with the Directors of Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacist in the facilities and with the system level clinical councils. This position will report to the Senior Director of Pharmacy and Medication Safety.

Qualifications:
- Registered pharmacist with residency training and/or equivalent clinical pharmacy experience in an acute care setting. Strong pharmacy operations background also preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 50%. Will run MVR on top candidate.
- Effectively and efficiently identifies areas for improvements in medication use.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the development and implementation of clinical pharmacy initiatives, focusing on appropriate medication use and cost-effective care.
- Demonstrated ability to gather information, analyze and implement strategies related to appropriate utilization of medication. Additionally, lead the clinical committees and councils in the determination of clinical equivalency using evidence-based medicine and internal outcomes data.
- Demonstrated ability to collect data from the medical literature and develop a medication use strategy based on data and practice guidelines. Additionally, support the initiative through a financial analysis that supports the impact of the initiative.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking in the design of solutions related to the management of medications shortages.
- Demonstrated ability to quantify the actual savings associated with the implementation of the clinical initiatives.
- Demonstrated knowledge of rapid quality improvement theory and practice.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Management skills, including project and time management, customer service, financial and personnel management skills.
- Outstanding ability to relate to academic and community-based acute care and non-acute care settings.
- Outstanding oral and written presentation skills.
- Demonstrated competency in the use of the Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
