The role you’ll contribute:
The Pharmacy Processing Technician performs a wide range of supportive duties to assist the Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication so that patients receive consistent care. This role is required to understand all pharmacy processes relating to prescription order entry, claims adjudication, fulfillment and shipping prescriptions. Works only under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist and does not perform duties that can only be legally performed by a registered Pharmacist.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Enters new prescription orders assuring that all information is correct including proper patient, drug, medication directions, refills, and physician are selected at order entry.
- Processes incoming mail / faxes / physician phone prescriptions/ SureScripts in an accurate and timely manner as assigned by Manager and Processing Supervisor
- Selects correct medications when processing or filling a prescription (checks NDC code) ensuring the prescription is filled correctly and does not activate drugs into inventory without the assistance of the buyers.
- Monitors own queue to ensure that all processes are completed in a timely manner including order entry, adjudicating, and corrections to any orders to ensure a steady flow through production and timely turnaround for the patients.
- Contacts physician’s office for any clarification regarding missing prescription information as assigned and follows up with inquiring in a timely manner based on pharmacy processes, contacting the patient as necessary.
- Selects appropriate shipping method for the order according to pharmacy processes or patient’s request making sure that the correct and most cost effective method is always used and the pharmacy service standards are being met.
- Communicates any information relative to the order within the comments and ship text to be viewed by QA, Pharmacist, Bookkeeping, Filling and Shipping staff.
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A current Florida Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, RPT; Must complete state required continuing education requirement for registration
- 1 year pharmacy technician experience, in a retail or mail-order setting
