Overview
St. Luke's Health System in Boise is seeking an Emergency Department Pharmacy Program Coordinator to join our Emergency Department Pharmacy Team.
Responsibilities
- Leads ED Pharmacy Services for all sites
- Plan, design and implement clinical pharmacy services to maximize pharmacy quality and value for populations served by the healthcare organization and partnering payor and provider stakeholders
- Serve as clinical mentor and educator to the professional staff
- Develop educational programs
- Develop and implements quality assurance standards
- Research new prescription drugs or new applications of existing drugs and develops prescription drug use guidelines
- Assist with the regular publication of bulletins, newsletters, and other informational vehicles to the medical, nursing, and other relevant stakeholder groups
- Function on-line in a staff pharmacist role to the degree necessary to gain first-hand knowledge of their duties and responsibilities to aid in development of an appropriate clinical role
- Perform as PGY2 Emergency Medicine RPD
- Attend meetings and participate in committees as directed/required. Oversee team involvement in committees
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Staffs ED twice a week (or equivalent) rotating through sites for maintenance of active practice and to understand needs for each area. The coordinator will not have a "home site" but will be driven by residency and team needs. The coordinator will collaborate with directors on the staffing schedule. There is flexibility to alleviate ED pharmacists/preceptors pharmacists to work on projects and initiatives, residency and student needs, staff where the resident is, alleviates for staff development (e.g. code/trauma training), and/or PTO coverage (if there is a significant need)
- The ED program coordinator reports to the Sr Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services
Qualifications
- Graduation from a School of Pharmacy required
- Three (3) years' relevant experience required
- PGY2 in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care is preferred
- Valid Idaho Pharmacist License required
- Board certification in Critical Care is preferred
Outstanding candidates will have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency in emergency medicine, followed by a minimum of 3 years of ED pharmacy experience or equivalent experience in the advanced practice areas (i.e. five years of practice experience expected of one who has completed a PGY2 residency) and board certification in critical care (or emergency medicine when it becomes available).
