Overview
St. Luke's Health System in Boise is seeking a Specialty Pharmacy Liaison to join our Pharmacy team.

Position Summary
The Specialty Pharmacy Liaison will support pharmacy services in a specialty practice area. They will provide integrated support to patients and members of the care team in a 'hands-on" approach to total quality patient care, and work closely with patients to deliver a full continuum of medication adherence, fulfillment and financial support by utilizing our various tools and applications. Always preserving patient choice and preference, they will encourage providers and patients of specialty clinics to utilize SLHS Outpatient pharmacy to fully benefit from its superior and increasing array of patient care services. As the Specialty Pharmacy Liaison will be supporting pharmacists and care teams located in various physical locations, strong communication skills with the clinic team (doctors, pharmacists, nurses, staff, etc.) will be critical to their success. Primarily, this position will need to navigate and support the retail operations of the Specialty Pharmacy and maintain the level of concierge service associated. St. Luke's is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter who is looking for a challenging career in specialty pharmacy management services. Experience as a pharmacy technician is required, and a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license in good standing in the state of Idaho is preferred. If the applicant does not currently have a CPhT, it is expected that this will be attained within two years of starting in the position. Applicant should be results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality. A natural forward-planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, well-presented, professional and comfortable in dealing with others both in-person and on the phone. Critical to this position is a person who is able to work well under deadlines and time pressures. Applicant must be reliable, tolerant, and determined; an empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Most importantly, must be able to work as a member of a close-knit team.
Duties
- In the outpatient pharmacy, coordinate filling, dispensing and shipping of specialty medications under pharmacist supervision.
- In support of the clinical team, serve patients, providers and members of the care team both face-to-face and over the phone.
- Grow the specialty pharmacy's patient population by
- Recruiting patients into the program by educating prospective patients on how SLHS serves patients and improves their overall care.
- Serving patients in clinic by providing friendly, courteous service and support in clinic and ensuring medications are filled and delivered to patients in an expedited way
- Retaining patients in the program by providing outbound therapy/medication adherence check-ups. Process refills to ensure no gaps in refills/treatment.
- Communicate effectively with appropriate members of the care team to keep them informed of possible therapy issues (such as non-compliance, side effects or other issues.)
- Answer, resolve and triage inbound inquiries.
- Ensure that all required documentation is properly completed for billing purposes to include (but not necessarily limited to) electronic orders and paperwork related to medications ordered. Understands and adheres to managed care guidelines.
- Coordinating with appropriate resources, resolve insurance related issues, including prior authorizations (PAs); and assist patients navigating various forms of financial assistance, clearly communicating cost-sharing responsibilities that patients may incur.
- Review reports of denied claims received directly from payers or through review of existing monthly QI reports and actively assist with appeal denials by collecting applicable clinical information.
- Understand and possess knowledge of drugs utilized for FDA-approved indications versus off-label indications and communicate the need of supporting literature to providers.
- Function as an interface between providers, patients, pharmacy and insurers on matters related to insurance verification, pre-certification/authorization
- Communicate directly with patients to assist them in the awareness of their medications.
- Achieve operational objectives by inputting data, performing adjudication on test claims and preparing action plans for follow-up.
- Apply observations and recommendations to operational issues, increased productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
- Identify trends, resolves problems, recommend improvements, implement change.
- Help develop new processes to ensure smooth operations and patient care. Actively participate in process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Idaho Pharmacy Technician License
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills required. Strong phone skills required. Bilingual or multi-lingual skills (beyond that of English) appropriate to the patient population served is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills to provide superb personalized customer service and to instill confidence and to advocate for patients; ability to explain required information to customers in a comprehensible manner
- Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial and ethnic populations
- Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, including being able to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios/proportions)
- Ability to be self-directed, multi-task, prioritize essential duties and meet deadlines
- Ability to actively promote the hospital's objectives through direct coordination and commitment to the program's goals.
- Organized, high-integrity, attention to detail, dependable, quality focus, empathetic, good listener/communicator.
- Must practice discretion and confidentiality as position deals with highly sensitive and private data.
- Adapts to changes in the departmental needs including but not limited to: offering assistance to other team members, adjusting assignments, etc.
Preferred:
- Four (4) + years'experience
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
