Join our team of talented healthcare professionals! We are looking for a System Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services to provide exceptional patient care at Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS). Upper Allegheny Health System is a hospital system including Bradford Regional Medical Center (Bradford, PA), Cuba Memorial Hospital (Cuba, NY), and Olean General Hospital (Olean, NY).
The position is located in Olean, NY. We are just a 1.5 hour drive south of Buffalo, NY.
The System Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services coordinates all clinical pharmacy programs throughout the Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS) sites, including roll out of pharmacy clinical initiatives in all locations, staff education, medication use evaluations, research, grants, publications, investigational drug activities, antimicrobial stewardship program, performance improvement activities, adverse drug reaction program, and medication error evaluation.

The hospital systems are located 40 minutes within each location and located in the beautiful hills of Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York.
Position Summary
The System Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services is responsible for the educational development of technicians, pharmacists, residents, and students including providing educational programs and competencies.
The System Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services serves as the Residency Program Director (RPD) for the Post-Graduate Year (PGY)1 Pharmacy Residency at Olean General Hospital (OGH). In this role, they will be responsible for maintaining the program’s compliance with the provisions of the current version of the ASHP Regulations on Accreditation of Pharmacy Residencies.
The System Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services is the pharmacy co-lead for the UAHS electronic medical record system in conjunction with the System Information Technology Manager.
What You Will Do
Summary
- Ensure CompleteRx (CRX) clinical operating and quality standards are implemented which promote safe, cost-effective use of medications for patients treated in assigned hospitals. Programs include but are not limited to;
- Clinical training and competency documentation of staff and clinical pharmacists
- Formulary management
- Clinical intervention workflow evaluation, implementation, and documentation
- MUE program management
- Ensure contractual nursing in-service requirements are met at each client facility
- Assess, select, and implement pharmaco-economic programs to achieve financial budget objectives
- Assist in promoting the CRX brand
- Assist in the acquisition and development of clinical talent at assigned facilities
- Successful accreditation and/or regulatory surveys
- Positive feedback from Administration, Medical Staff, nurses, and other stakeholders
- Follow and encourage compliance with the CompleteRx, Team Covenant to promote a working environment that attracts and retains talented, committed employees.
Responsible for clinical and pharmacoeconomic programs
- Implements, maintains, evaluates formulary management initiatives
- Provides oversight and quality assurance for clinical and pharmacokinetic monitoring programs
- Writes, develops, implements, monitors, and revises policies, procedures, and programs in conjunction with the System Director of Pharmacy
- Develops, manages, and oversees data collection, analysis, and reporting of Medication Use Evaluations (MUEs)
- Advises on quality assurance techniques to ensure safe, legal, and ethical practices
- Supports UAHS with Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee functions (i.e., prepare agenda, provide reports, analyze data, etc.)
- Prepares and analyzes quality and cost metrics for improvement opportunities
- Delivers clinical services report to the UAHS team as
- Publishes a regular pharmacy newsletter with information relevant to UAHS practice
- Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings and huddles
- Assist with CRX customer business reviews
- Participates in developing the annual Operational Plan and Strategic Plan
- Participates in inter-intra departmental meetings to advise and inform hospital medical staff of drug applications and characteristics
- Serve as liaison to QA, Risk Management, and other departments
- Administers and maintains pharmacy clinical data base
- Assigns work, sets deadlines, and supervises work of assigned staff
- Recruits, trains, and evaluates performance of assigned staff
- Assumes responsibilities of the System Director of Pharmacy during absences
- Supports the work of staff pharmacists including providing their functions and performs other related duties as needed
Responsible for the educational development of technicians, pharmacists, residents, and students
- Provides ACPE-accredited programs to pharmacists and technicians so they can maintain the competencies necessary to deliver clinical pharmacy services. Serves as the UAHS/CRX Pharmacy Residency program coordinator and is responsible for providing a meaningful residency that exceeds accreditation standards
- Precepts and coordinates rotations for pharmacy students
What You Will Need
Requirements:
- Must possess Pharm.D. or equivalent degree
- Must have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency followed by a minimum of three years of pharmacy practice experience; OR have completed ASHP-accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residencies with one or more years of pharmacy practice experience; OR without completion of an ASHP-accredited residency, have five or more years of pharmacy practice experience
- Experience in oversight of pharmacy residency programs preferred
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of products required, with advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Must possess strong knowledge of federal, state/local pharmacy regulations and pharmacy management practices
