Under the direction of the Vanderbilt Health IT Pharmacy Portfolio and in collaboration with the leadership & staff of Vanderbilt Pharmaceutical Services, the residency is designed to equip the resident with the necessary tools and experiences to achieve a position in pharmacy informatics upon completion of the program. The resident will have a variety of project opportunities, so the program may be tailored to the resident's interests and current needs of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The resident will also have responsibilities that are consistent with guidelines from ASHP. Other related activities may include but are not limited to case presentations, a teaching certificate, research and other projects, conferences, and a pharmacy staffing component. Goals of Residency:
* Understand the role of informatics programs in improving patient safety
* Evaluate technology integration in clinical practice
* Assess the impact of informatics systems on clinician workflow
* Communicate effectively and professionally
* Participate in project design and implementation
* Obtain Epic Proficient status for Willow Inpatient
* Develop leadership in the development and maintenance of informatics systems.
* Understand the relationship between local users and vendor software products and customizations
This position requires a PharmD degree and a successfully completed PGY1 residency certificate from an accredited ASHP residency program
TN Pharmacist Licensure Required (for out of state matched candidates, licensure window is defined in our Residency Manual). ________________________________________
This is a full-time position Monday-Friday with some on-call and rotational weekend staffing. The experiences may be remote but required pharmacy staffing mandates local residency. Background screening checks will be performed, and educational information will be verified prior to employment. Please be prepared to provide the required information and/or documentation.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has supported postgraduate pharmacy training since 1993 with the PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics residency program since 2006, and Health System Pharmacy Administration Leadership (HSPAL) since 2016. Under the guidance of our residency program leadership, these programs offer our residents the opportunity to learn and practice in several acute-care and specialty areas, with a focus on personalized care for each patient while leveraging Epic-based Health IT systems for targeted clinical decision support and leveraging management along with leadership tools to optimize our services. Our programs have been recognized by ASHP and other professional organizations and our preceptors are engaged nationally with several leadership positions within ASHP and other organizations.
