Working with the Chief Medical Officer, the Director for Point of Care Pharmacy Services will help develop and execute ODPs strategic plan for incorporating sterile compounding as part of our point of care solution to drug shortages, disaster response, and supply chain challenges. The Director will be responsible for implementing and executing innovative, high-quality, and scalable sterile compounding operations consistent with organizations strategic plans.
Works with the Chief Medical Officer and cross-functional teams to develop and implement our point of care production strategy
Working with the research, development, and analytical science teams, optimizes and evolves ODPs portfolio of compounded products and services
Develops and implements state-of-the art compounding quality systems and compliance mechanisms
Oversees day-to-day operations to ensure an optimal state of control via systems and the monitoring of key performance indicators
Establishes policies and procedures, systemizes and optimizes workflows for distributed production
Hires, trains, develops, and ensures competency of a team to support our distributed production approach upon deployment
Serves as liaison between ODP, state boards of pharmacy, and FDA
Ensures compliance with USP 795/797/800, specific state boards of pharmacy rules and regulations
Is familiar with good manufacturing practices and the current FDA guidance on compounding (503a and 503b), including the insanitary conditions guidance.
Pharmacy degree (BS and/or PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy required.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing sterile compounding operations and/or quality systems in a hospital or health system (residency training will be considered in lieu of years of experience).
Experience supervising a small staff and developing a team approach.
Experience implementing automated and semi-automated compounding processes.
Ability to work in fast-paced, entrepreneurial settings, in diverse, cross-functional teams.
Strong communications skills, orally, in writing and in presentations.
Strong project management skills.
Innovative, forward-thinking mindset and problem-solving approach.
Specialized residency training preferred (e.g., HSPA, Medication Use Safety & Policy).
Board certification in sterile compounding or equivalent certification/training
Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering and Lean Six Sigma
COVID-19 Vaccination Policy: With limited exceptions, up to date COVID-19 vaccinations are required for all ODP employees who work on-site at our headquarters. New employees must present proof of full vaccination (ex. CDC card) or submit exemption requests to the Director of People Operations before their first day. Exceptions to the policy are available only for those who need an accommodation for a qualifying medical reason or sincerely held religious belief or practice.
