The University of Southern California, School of Pharmacy, and Gilead Sciences, Inc. are proud to offer a 2-year Fellowship on the Oncology Clinical Development team designed to provide recent PharmD graduates an opportunity to gain the skills and experiences needed to excel in Clinical Development across the pharmaceutical industry. The fellowship is based at the Gilead U.S. headquarters in Foster City, California. The fellow will be integral to the Global Clinical Development team.
Duration: 2 years (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025)

Clinical Development Fellowship Activities:
The majority of the fellows’ time will directly support study management teams as part of the clinical development function. The fellow will initially support the study clinical lead/Medical Monitor (with opportunities to potentially serve as the primary clinical point of contact for study teams in the second year) in the following activities:
Develop core skill sets in clinical data review, review and author key clinical documents including but not limited to: study protocols, informed consent, regulatory briefing packages, regulatory and ethic committee responses, clinical study plans
With supervision, contribute to the preparation and/or review of data listings, summary tables, study results, manuscripts, and scientific presentations.
Liaise with cross-functional and functional stakeholders (clinical operation, safety science, biostatistics, clinical pharmacology, biomarkers, etc.) to execute and manage clinical trials
With supervision, contribute to the design and development of CRFs, Data Management Manuals and Data Analysis Plans
Acquire and utilize knowledge of clinical trial design to develop specific study concept sheets and protocols.
Participate in protocol review discussions concerning scientific and procedural aspects of study design
Answer protocol-related questions from investigative sites throughout the lifecycle of a clinical trial
Actively participate in and/or lead scientific communications including Steering Committee Meetings, Data Monitoring Committee Meetings, Investigator meetings
Engage in stakeholder management through interactions with key opinion leaders and investigators
Develop deep understanding of molecule and indication in the company pipeline through various activities including but not limited to review of literature and scientific materials, team meeting attendance, review of Clinical Development Plan, and attendance of scientific conferences
USC Graduate Coursework:
Complete required graduate coursework at the University of Southern California with the opportunity to complete a Graduate Certificate Program in a variety of fields
Leadership and Career Development:
Participate in the USC School of Pharmacy Professional Development and Leadership Retreat
Minimum Application Requirements: The candidate must have completed a Pharm.D., MD, Ph.D., or equivalent doctorate from an accredited college or university within five years of initial appointment and a minimum doctoral program GPA of 3.0.
