Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania is recruiting for PGY2 specialty residency positions in the areas of oncology, critical care, emergency medicine and hospital system pharmacy administration & leadership. The positions are 12-month positions.
The oncology residency is accredited through ASHP and offers two positions per year. The program offers experiential opportunities with medical oncology, hematology/BMT, stem cell transplant, ambulatory chemotherapy infusion clinic, oral chemotherapy clinic, pediatric hematology/oncology, neuro-oncology, gynecology oncology, palliative medicine and infectious disease.
The critical care residency is accredited through ASHP and offers two positions per year. Residents in critical care will gain experience in managing various levels of adult and pediatric critical care needs, emergency medicine practice, acute oncologic crises, and post-ICU ambulatory care clinics.
The emergency medicineresidency program is in pre-candidate status for accreditation through ASHP and is recruiting for its first class. The program will enroll 2 candidates as its first class. Residents in emergency medicine will gain experience in managing various levels of adult and pediatric urgent and emergent care conditions as well as elective experiences in toxicology and other specialty rotations.
The hospital system pharmacy administration & leadership (HSPAL) residency program is a candidate for accreditation with ASHP and will undergo its initial accreditation visit in early Spring 2023. Residents in the HSPAL program will gain experience in traditional hospital and health-system leadership as well as ambulatory care services (clinic-based, telehealth, retail, mail order, specialty, and home infusion) and health plan management.
All PGY2 residency positions offer opportunities in committee and department meetings, research presentations, and student and PGY1 teaching and precepting.
Geisinger is recruiting for two Post-Doctoral Fellows. One in the area of HEOR and Health Services Research, and another within Health System Science/Industry Relations. The positions are 24-month positions.
The HEOR and Health Services Research fellowship will integrate into a clinical environment with the focus of innovation and research, Fellows will gain skills and demonstrate proficiency in research idea generation, research design, research execution and analysis. Fellows will be expected to present research at national meetings and prepare manuscripts. Team science is a part of the development of the candidate and research methods include qualitative and quantitative methods. Implementation Science and effectiveness of health services are highlighted in the experience. Opportunity for master's level training in research design and analysis. Fellows will have a mentoring committee that meet and review progress throughout the fellowship.
The Health System Science/Industry Relations fellowship is intended to grow a post-doc in health system understanding for eventual positions in strategy, innovation, and collaboration type roles in health systems. Complementary to typical Industry Fellowships, this fellow will be engaged in innovative initiatives within our integrative health system including, but not limited to new contract designs, innovative practices that are scalable to other systems, and creative industry relations and collaborations. Fellows in this program will be expected to develop excellent communication skills though hands-on training with internal and external stakeholders. This fellowship will focus on Health System Science development to move the graduate into system-level positions within healthcare organizations. One or more research/innovative projects with potential for presentation and publication are expected. Master's level training in business administration or healthcare administration along with targeted leadership training are included. This position is offered remote, but would require regular in-person touchpoints with travel support included.
