The internal Medicine residency is a one-year ASHP-accredited specialty residency aimed to provide specialized training necessary to develop knowledge and professional practice skills essential to serve as a pharmacotherapy specialist. Residents have opportunities for development of teaching and research skills at the UK College of Pharmacy.
Rotations offered include internal medicine (7 months), cardiology (1 month), adult pulmonary/MICU (1 month), and infectious diseases (1 month). The opportunities for internal medicine experience include academic teaching teams, hospitalist non-rounding teams, and hospitalist rounding teams via the unique BOOST initiative. Clinical expertise in subspecialty areas will be available through 2 months of a wide variety of elective rotations. Residents also participate in providing 24-hour clinical pharmacy services through the in-house on-call program and provide longitudinal staffing. Please reach out to RPD Megan Kunka Fritz, email@example.com, to get more information and schedule a virtual PPS informational session.
