The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy (BGCOP) is seeking applicants for a PGY2 pharmacy residency in ambulatory/primary care with a focus in Family Medicine. The residency is ASHP accredited and has a secondary emphasis in academia, which prepares the graduate to excel as a clinical faculty member or clinical specialist with teaching responsibilities. A teaching and learning certificate program is offered.
The successful applicant will spend a significant portion of their time working with full-time faculty members in the College of Pharmacy in the area of ambulatory/primary care. There will be selective rotations in psychiatry and private practice medicine as well as available elective rotations such as advanced endocrinology and oncology. The main clinical sites will be three Family Medicine clinics in Kingsport, Johnson City, and Bristol, Tennessee which are affiliated with the East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Health. Significant opportunity exisits to serve rural and underserved patients in clinical practice sites as well as community service outreach efforts. There will also be an administrative experience exposing the resident to both pharmacy and educational administration. The successful applicant will instruct students in didactic, active learning, and experiential settings. The resident will be mentored to independently precept pharmacy students by the end of the residency year.
