As hospital employees, residents are eligible to receive a full benefits package (including 10 paid days off) and reimbursement for conference attendance. Professional liability insurance is covered by the hospital as long as residents are working within the limits of their job description and following hospital policies and procedures.

The PGY2 Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) is structured to develop graduates of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency into clinical specialists who can successfully care for adults with cancer, including solid tumor malignancies, hematologic malignancies, those undergoing a hematopoietic cell transplant, as well as patients with benign hematological diseases. Residents who complete this program will be well equipped to handle all aspects of pharmaceutical care for oncology patients. Residents will function as part of the multi-disciplinary team and work to ensure the safe and effective use of all chemotherapy/immunotherapy. During the residency year, the resident will be responsible for the completion of a research project, quality improvement project or medication use evaluation, teach by exercising a variety of presentation formats, and act as a pharmacy role model/mentor. Professional writing and research opportunities may be available during the course of the year as well.
Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program (or one in the process of pursuing accreditation) or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP)
Enrolled in an ASHP accredited PGY 1 Pharmacy residency program with expected completion prior to the official start date of the PGY2 residency
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania within 90 days of the start of the residency year
