The IHS is an agency in the Department of Health and Human Services. Our mission is to raise the physical, spiritual, and mental health of Alaska Natives and American Indians to the highest possible level. Native people have long experienced lower health status when compared with other Americans. Lower life expectancy and a disproportionate disease burden have been attributed to social risk factors and structural inequalities. Working at IHS is challenging and rewarding.
Whiteriver Indian Hospital provides services to Native Americans primarily of the White Mountain Apache Tribe. The facility receives over 179,000 ambulatory visits and 2,000 admissions annually. Local services/departments include: Outpatient, Inpatient, Emergency Room, Dental, Eye, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietary, Diabetes, and a full suite of Pharmacy services.
