The Pharmacy Enterprise at Memorial Healthcare System
The MHS pharmacy enterprise meets the needs of the health care delivery system and its patients to assure continuity of care, medication adherence, favorable medication use outcomes, and new revenue streams. In addition to the six acute care hospital pharmacies which support the medication management for their respective facilities, the enterprise services our patients through its five community pharmacies, accredited specialty pharmacy, and infusion services which extend Memorial’s high quality pharmacy services beyond our hospital walls. Our ambulatory and telehealth pharmacy team is embedded within physician practices and work collaboratively with our primary care and specialty physician practices to supports patients transitioning into the community.

The HSPAL Residency Program at Memorial Healthcare System is a second year, 12-month post-graduate program committed to providing excellent training and learning experiences to support the resident's clinical, academic and professional interests. The program is dedicated to preparing future pharmacy leaders by promoting competence, confidence, leadership and professional skills essential to operate effectively within health systems and advance the profession of pharmacy practice.

Applicants must be graduates of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited (or in candidate status) Doctor of Pharmacy degree program. The applicant must be participating in, or have completed, an ASHP-accredited (or in candidate status) PGY1 pharmacy residency program.

Memorial Hospital West opened in May 1992 with 100 beds to serve the growing population of western Broward. Today, the hospital has 486 beds and provides high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. In 2020, it provided approximately 80,000 adult ER visits, 4,347 inpatient infectious diseases consultation referrals, and 3,142 inpatients diagnosed with COVID-19.
Our hospital hosts Moffitt Cancer Center and a dedicated inpatient department of 44 beds for the Moffitt Malignant Hematology and Cellular Therapy program. Performing 68 stem cell transplants and 388 admissions in 2020, there is an abundance of patients wit...h infectious complications of hematological malignancy.
Additionally, the Division of Infectious Disease, the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, and the Moffitt Cancer Center collaborate in a unique hospital committee on multiple protocols and antibiotic stewardship policies for the Moffitt Malignant Hematology and Cellular Therapy program.
