The Emergency Medicine Pharmacist(EMP) is a visible and integrated member of the multidisciplinary emergency department responsible for a variety of activities that improve the medication use process and patient safety. Responsibilities include improving the medication reconciliation process by proactively reviewing the home medication list, participating in direct patient care rounds with emphasis on HCAHPS indicators and regulatory compliance, assisting with patient care involving high-risk medications and procedures, performing prospective medication order review to ensure optimal medication therapy, prioritizing assistance to other members of the ED team for patients arriving with life-threatening conditions, servicing as a drug information and formulary resource. The pharmacist must be comfortable in operating in a fast-paced emergency department environment and able to adjust to changes in workload while maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy and be licensed in the state of NC. Previous hospital pharmacy experience is required. Emergency medicine training in addition to an ASHP accredited residency is preferred.
