Humana’s accredited PGY1 Managed Care Residency Program is a twelve-month post-graduate training program consisting of core, longitudinal, and elective learning experiences that build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education to develop clinical pharmacists responsible for the medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions. Through systematic training, pharmacy residents will enhance their clinical and business acumen. Pharmacy residents will apply best clinical practices and managed care principles while working within multi-disciplinary teams to improve population health for Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial members within an integrated health plan and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) corporate setting.
Humana’s PGY1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Program develops future managed care leaders by providing systematic training of pharmacists to achieve professional competence in the delivery of patient care and managed care practice. It supports training the next generation of managed care pharmacists to support the best health outcomes for patients. The program prepares residents to continue growth as professionals throughout their pharmacy careers. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) in partnership with the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) accredits Humana’s PGY1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Program. Upon graduation from the program, residents are qualified to take the Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) board certification exam and/or postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
