Performs tasks within the pharmacy in direct support of the ongoing duties and responsibilities of a pharmacist with occasional guidance. Tasks performed contribute directly to the preparation and/or dispensing of a final dosage form for administration to a patient and are directly supervised by a pharmacist. Provides customer service by answering phone requests and triaging calls to the appropriate person if they cannot answer the requested information. Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
< 1 year Graduation from ASHP or PTCB accredited technician training program, or six months prior experience.
Registered Pharmacy Technician Required
Additional Qualification Information:
Tennessee Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration must be obtained within 90 days of employment. PTCB/NHA National Pharmacy Technician Certification. Per Pharmacy Department policy, all new hires are subject to pre-employment drug screening (post offer), as well as for cause and random drug screening during their tenure with Vanderbilt.
