The Emergency Medicine (EM) PGY2 residency program offered at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center provides extensive, hands-on training within the 56-bed Adult and Pediatric emergency departments where the resident is an integrated member of the interdisciplinary emergency medicine team.  They spend over half of their year within the ED completing core EM I-IV, Peds EM, and EM Leadership learning experiences. Residents also complete learning experiences in trauma, critical care, and toxicology with longitudinal experiences in Infectious Disease, Projects, and Teaching/Education.   Electives are available in EMS, Community EM, Cardiology, Psychiatry, Burn and Pain/Opioid Stewardship.  All experiences are individualized to meet each residents’ personal and p
