The Director of Trend Management is an expert in the field of specialty pharmacy trends and management tactics. The Director will develop data-driven strategic insights and trend management opportunities to ensure expert management of oncology and chronic inflammatory spend, trend, and quality. This individual will track pharmacy and industry trends, proactively suggest clinical best practices and criteria recommendations to both internal and external stakeholders.
They are responsible for fostering consultative relationships with large, complex and/or strategic clients and the account teams that support the clients. The individual will work collaboratively with the Optum Rx clinical pharmacy to ensure deployment of appropriate guidelines and protocols, utilization management strategies, clinical products / services, and formulary management strategies. The Director of Trend Management is expected to maintain strategic relationships with client leaders, key internal stakeholders, and brokers/consultants.

Provide clear guidance and leadership to the Optum Rx organization on oncology and inflammatory trends and management best practices
Provide superior clinical consultation with a focus on trend management, client satisfaction, and client retention and clinical outcomes
Provide routine reporting to clinical leadership regarding milestone attainment and any significant issues within their segment that may be impacting overall team performance
Ensures alignment of PBM clinical priorities with strategic goals and objectives of the overall organization and client
Collaborates with clients to establish achievable but aggressive chronic inflammatory and oncology trend management goals
Formulates and delivers clinically-sound and fiscally responsible recommendations to clients based on their data
Maintains subject-matter-expert knowledge of chronic inflammatory and oncology trends and market forces and delivers intelligence to internal partners and clients
Communicates drug information to clients and responds to plan-specific clinical inquiries in a timely manner
Supports other revenue-enhancement efforts (e.g., specialty, formulary, UM, mail, etc…) in coordination with client management and/or sales teams where appropriate
Routinely collaborates with clinical consulting and client management leadership peers to provide well-coordinated, impactful quarterly performance review sessions with clients where appropriate
Collaborates with client management to formulate and deliver clinical renewal strategies
Drives enhanced client relationships through senior-level strategic discussions and planning which addresses issues of highest priority for the client
Consistently looks at existing processes, methods, and materials to find opportunities for improvement
Maintains strategic relationships with client leaders, key stakeholders, and brokers/consultants
Supports sales and marketing including participating in RFP/finalist activities as needed based on current standard operating procedure

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
Active, unrestricted US state-specific pharmacist license
5+ years of pharmacy practice experience
3+ years of Specialty Pharmacy-related experience
1+ Managed Care and/or PBM Pharmacy experience
Experience analyzing and interpreting pharmacy data to guide decisions and make recommendations to improve outcomes and reduce costs
Experience developing and delivering formal presentations to clients and/or senior leaders
Basic competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900.
