Position Information:
The 340B Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for oversight of and distribution of all 340B Program information to the 340B Executive Compliance Committee. The Clinical Pharmacist serves as the 340B Program health system content expert and is the primary liaison for all 340B-related matters. Ensures the appropriate utilization of the 340B program and compliance with all program requirements/regulations as set forth by the Health Services and Resources Administration (HRSA) which includes cost analysis to identify and determine the preferred NDC for 340B and GPO pharmacy purchases. In addition, the specialist monitors and analyzes 340B accumulations related to drug purchases to minimize cost impact to the organization on a daily basis. Serves as the institutional compliance expert or authority on 340B regarding program details, policies, and procedures of the virtual inventory processes required for mixed-use areas. Maintains the 340B split-billing software data and integrity. Understands pharmaceutical transactions and charging build in EPIC to assure correct pharmacy billing and revenue capture. Maintains expertise in Macrohelix, pharmacy?s wholesaler purchasing system, Crystal reports to ensure accurate information is available for 340B reporting. Works with outpatient pharmacy management and the pharmacy informatics teams to ensure that the organization's clinical information system and contract pharmacy claims are coordinated and integrated into the 340B program. This includes the interfaces between the EMR and the virtual accumulator and any interfaces between the organization and contract pharmacy providers and/or administrators. Performs ongoing internal audits and review of applicable reports to ensure program integrity, compliance and to identify areas for improvement. Coordinates all external audits by HRSA. Performs special projects for the 340B Executive Compliance Committee and Pharmacy Management Team as directed including cost analysis and determination for the Department?s non-labor cost saving initiatives. This position requires extensive work on various financial planning and analysis tasks to maximize 340B savings and non-labor savings, including but not limited to management reporting, budgeting and forecasting and business analysis. This position will also assist the pharmacy operational areas with developing and monitoring business performance indicators related to revenue, billing, 340B savings, and non-labor pharmacy initiative savings through general financial analysis and support.In addition to the 340B and financial duties, the 340B Clinical Pharmacist provides specialized pharmaceutical services to ensure safe, effective, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for adult and geriatric patients during staffing shifts. The Adult Clinical Pharmacist is also able to assist staff with questions related to infants and children.
