Post-Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Infectious Disease Pharmacy Resident
Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Job Summary:
Vanderbilt University Medical Center Post-Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency program is a 12-month, full-time residency, accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
The purpose of the PGY2 Pharmacy Residency program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.
Our residency program will provide each resident with specific learning experiences designed to enable the resident to expand the scope of his/her practice skills. The resident will be evaluated on ASHP goals/objectives as assigned on various learning experiences (rotations, longitudinal experiences, presentations, etc.) throughout the year. The ASHP Residency Learning System and PharmAcademic is used extensively, which offers the resident a tailored, personalized, and progressive learning experience throughout the year.
This residency will tentatively begin on July 3, 2023, with one residency position available. PGY2 specialty residencies require the successful completion of a PGY1 residency year and pharmacy licensure in the state of Tennessee. VUMC pharmacy residency positions beginning in 2023 in postgraduate year one (PGY1) or postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency programs are offered to applicants through the ASHP Resident Matching Program (the "Match"). The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) is responsible for establishing the Rules of the Match, and for monitoring the implementation of the Match.
