The UIC College of Pharmacy of Rockford, in conjunction with OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center (SAMC) Rockford, offers this PGY2 Emergency Medicine Residency. The resident’s focus will be on direct care of ED patients within SAMC. The residency offers specialty training in emergency medicine, trauma, and critical care. An academic appointment with the school of pharmacy is provided and the resident may participate in didactic lectures, and function as a co-preceptor for UIC College of Pharmacy students and PGY1 residents. Residency requirements include clinical research, completion of two publishable manuscripts, didactic lecture(s), and a continuing education lecture is required. Pharmacy practice includes staffing every fourth weekend in the emergency department. By focusing on developing clinical pharmacists prepared to offer medication-related care on multidisciplinary teams, the program provides the advantages of preparation for establishing a new pharmacy service and board certification.
