The Division of Pharmacy of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) is seeking a clinical specialist to be part of a 32-person clinical specialist team. Areas of focus for this position in the outpatient cardiology clinic may include but are not limited to anticoagulation, cardiomyopathy, heart transplant, pediatric and adult cardiology. Practice will include pharmacist prescribing under consult agreement with the cardiologists. Responsibilities include identifying any drug related problems such as drug interactions, inappropriate doses, compliance issues, lack of indication for prescribed therapies, duplicate therapies, ensuring appropriate monitoring of specific therapies for efficacy and toxicity and therapy modifications based on monitoring results. In addition to these activities the candidate would develop recommendations for evidence-based guidelines for specific patient populations followed in the clinic. Additional responsibilities include medical and pharmacy staff education, drug use evaluation and performance improvement. Preceptorship of the pharmacy residents and pharmacy students is required. Involvement in scholarly activity is expected.
Inhouse coverage of a weekend general pediatric inpatient clinical shift is required approximately one weekend per quarter.

Cincinnati College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy.
Applicants should have earned a Pharm.D. degree and completed two ASHP accredited residency programs with the second year having emphasis in pediatrics (with rotations in cardiology) OR cardiology (with rotations in pediatrics). Must be eligible for licensure in Ohio and Kentucky.
