PGY2 Emergency Medicine 

This program will be physically present at the ASHP Midyear Conference and PPS. The resident will be integrated as a core member of the ED pharmacy team in our Level 1 Trauma Center, serving adult, pediatric, and psychiatric patient populations. In this capacity, the resident will work closely with EM physicians, residents, mid-level practitioners, respiratory therapists, and nurses to ensure patients receive the best possible care while in the ED.

• Required rotations: Adult Emergency Medicine I (6 weeks), Pediatric Emergency Medicine I (6 weeks), Adult ICU, Pediatric ICU, Adult Emergency Medicine II, Adult Emergency Medicine III, ED Pharmacy Practice management, and research (always December)
• Elective optional rotations:1 ED elective (examples may include repeating Pediatric ED, Urban ED, or a trauma-focused adult ED rotation) and 1 ED-related rotation at Michigan Medicine (Examples may include Infectious Diseases or various ICU rotations within our institution, such as Trauma/Burn, Surgical, Medical, Neurology, Adult Cardiology, or Pediatric Cardiology ICU)
• Longitudinal experiences: EMS ride-along, teaching with adjunct clinical instructor appointment at the College of Pharmacy, research and writing project, Journal club presented to ACCP EMPRN Monthly National Journal Club (if selected), 2-3 major topic presentations to the critical care, cardiology, and emergency medicine preceptor groups, Formal resident didactic lecture within the Department of Emergency Medicine, involvement in a local/state/national committee, case conference mentorship of PGY1 residents
• Staffing: 15 weekends per year in adult and pediatric ER with 1 major and 1 minor holiday

Requirements:

Successful completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency program. Must be eligible for or holding an active pharmacist and controlled substance license in the State of Michigan.
