Blount Memorial Hospital is an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency with three (3) PGY1 Residency Positions. Pharmacists are responsible for providing evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy management with interdisciplinary teams. Residents use medical informatics & management skills to improve medication use processes. Residents participate in drug formulary, medication use evaluations, provide medication & practice-related education and training. Residents gain in-depth experience in internal medicine, infectious diseases, critical care, oncology, nutrition therapy, emergency medicine, practice management, informatics, medication safety, drug information, pharmacokinetics and ambulatory care. Teaching opportunities include participation in an optional teaching & learning certificate program, teaching in inpatient & outpatient inpatient settings, as well as teaching pharmacy students from several universities. Opportunities for didactic opportunities are available. Communication skills are sharpened with multiple medication use evaluations, formulary reviews, journal clubs, & formal lectures. We will develop you into an outstanding clinical Pharmacist with strong leadership skills. Our well-rounded program provides the knowledge and experience that pharmacy practitioners need to face challenges in today's complex health care systems, while also providing essential skills to meet the practice demands of the future.
